Realme C65 Design, Colour Options Revealed; Confirmed to Launch on April 4

Realme C65 is confirmed to be unveiled soon. The new phone will likely succeed the Realme C55, which was introduced in March 2023, and launch in select Asian markets. A senior company official has revealed the design of the upcoming handset and confirmed some of its features. The handset had previously been spotted on several certification sites which have suggested some specifications. The India launch of the handset, however, has not yet been confirmed.

Realme Vietnam, in an Instagram post, confirmed that the Realme C65 will launch on April 4. The poster shared in the post showed the upcoming model in two colour options - Galaxy Black and Violet (translated from Vietnamese). The models appear with a shimmering glossy finish that is claimed to offer "a sparkling autumnal look." In an earlier post teasing the launch of the phone, an image showed the back panel of the handset in a sparking golden hue. This could be a third colour option.

Alongside launching in Vietnam, the Realme C65 will also be available in the Philippines, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Indonesia soon, a note from Realme Vice President Chase Xu confirmed. He added that the phone will also be introduced to other countries and regions soon but did not offer more details. He confirmed that the Realme C65 will be available at retail stores in Vietnam from April 2.

The official also shared a hands-on image of the handset, which shows the back panel sparkling under light. The model is seen with a rectangular camera unit in the top left corner, which houses two sensors and an LED flash unit. The power button and volume rockers appear on the right edge of the phone. The power button is expected to double as a fingerprint sensor.

Realme C65 is also teased to be the thinnest in the segment, as per Xu's note. The model will come with an AI-Boost mode, and a 'powerful' chipset with up to 16GB of dynamic RAM. It is teased to have features like Dynamic Button, Riding Mode, and Smart Code Scan.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Turbo Specifications Leak, Could Debut Globally as Poco F6

Redmi Note 13 Turbo specifications have been leaked by a tipster, ahead of the arrival of the most powerful handset in the Note 13 series. The smartphone is likely to be equipped with Qualcomm's recently announced Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset and could sport an OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. While there's no word from the company in terms of launch plans, the handset could make its debut outside China as a Poco-branded phone, just like its predecessor.

According to details leaked by tipster Experience more (translated from Chinese) on Weibo, the Redmi Note 13 Turbo will sport a flat 1.5K OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The displays are said to be manufactured by two suppliers — TCL Huaxing and Shenzhen Tianma. The tipster also claims that the phone will pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 90W wired charging.

For photos and videos, the Redmi Note 13 Turbo is said to feature a 50-megapixel primary camera with a Sony IMX882 sensor. Details of the other rear cameras are currently under wraps. Meanwhile, the tipster says that the smartphone will be equipped with a 20-megapixel selfie camera.

In addition to the smartphone's specifications, the Weibo user has also hinted at the design of the upcoming smartphone. The Redmi Note 13 Turbo is said resemble the Redmi K70E, while the rear panel could borrow design elements from the Redmi Note 12T and the Redmi Note 13 Pro, according as per the tipster.

Last year, the company launched the Redmi Note 12 Turbo in China, while it was introduced in international markets as the Poco F5. The company is yet to announce plans to launch the Redmi Note 13 Turbo, which could eventually make its debut outside China as the Poco F6 — recent leaks suggest it will feature similar specifications. We can expect to hear more about these smartphones in the coming weeks or months.

iPhone 16 Cases Surface Online, Hinting at Pill-Shaped Rear Camera Island

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are likely to make their debut in the second half of 2024 with a few design tweaks, according to previous reports. A leaked image that shows two cases for the iPhone 16 models gives us a good idea of what to expect from the successors to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. This year, the standard models are said to sport a vertical pill-shaped layout, replacing the square camera island with rounded edges found on the iPhone 15 series and other models that preceded it.

An image of two smartphone cases was leaked by tipster Sonny Dickson via X (formerly Twitter). The case on the left side appears to be slightly larger, which means it could be for the iPhone 16 Plus, while the cover for the standard model could be on the right side. Both cases are shown with a vertical rear camera bump, along with a plastic cutout for the LED flash located right next to the camera island.

While the new camera layout could be part of a new design that has been tipped several times over the past few months, MacRumors notes that the upcoming smartphones may also feature a dual rear camera setup that is vertically aligned to enable support for spatial recording — this is reportedly not supported on the iPhone 15 as the handset has a diagonal camera layout.

This year, Apple's Action button is expected to make its way from the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to all four models in the iPhone 16 series. The leaked cases also appear to show the Action button on the regular iPhone 16 models, along with a cutout for the rumoured 'Capture' button that is expected to arrive later this year.

Another image recently shared by the same tipster showed the purported iPhone 16 Pro model with a cutout for what could be the Capture button on the upcoming flagship handset from Apple. Meanwhile, the colour options for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have also been leaked, and the company's premium smartphones could arrive in four colour options later this year.

Poco C61 First Impressions

Poco has been delivering decent products for a while, mainly catering to diverse price categories. The X-series offers flagship-grade features, while the M-series delivers a punch in the mainstream category. However, it is the C-series that provides the real value-for-money proposition. The latest addition to this series is the Poco C61, which brings a refreshed design language along with a good combination of software and hardware, all at a starting price of Rs 6,999. But how does it fair against the competition? We have some time with the device, so here's our first look.

4 POCO C61

Starting with the design, Poco has brought a fresh perspective to this segment, where most phones offer a standard design language. The phone has three colours: Diamond Dust Black, Ethereal Blue, and Mystical Green. We got the Mystical Green colour option, and it sure stands out from the crowd with the new Radiant Ring design. The back panel is made of glass with a big circular ring housing the camera module. Poco has also made sure to add some details to the Ring to make it look more attractive and premium. From the rear panel, you will feel it to be a mid-premium smartphone, which is good. The flat frame also makes it easier to hold in hand. The phone is 8.3mm thick and weighs 193 grams, which genuinely feels light and sleek despite the price tag.

Flip it over, and you will see a large screen with uniform bezels around the edges. It is not the slimmest in the segment, but do strike a perfect balance. The phone also features a punch-hole cutout that houses a selfie camera. Coming to the display, you get a 6.71-inch HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a screen resolution of 1650 x 720 pixels. The phone also supports 500nits of peak brightness and an 89.5 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The screen is bright enough to enjoy your video content on the go. We will get it in detail in our upcoming review.

1 POCO C61

Coming to the performance, the Poco C61 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G36 processor, which is MediaTek's chipset for entry-level gaming smartphones. The handset also features 6GB of RAM and 6GB of virtual memory, bringing up to 12GB of RAM. Moreover, the handset also packs up to 128GB of storage, which is expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card slot. The device's performance seems pretty satisfactory in a brief time of use, with easy scrolling and switching between different apps. On the software front, the phones run on the Android 14 operating system. However, we have yet to test out the full capabilities of the device, so stay tuned for a detailed review.

For cameras, the Poco device offers a dual rear camera setup with an 8-megapixel primary sensor and an unspecified secondary camera. On the front, you get a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Although the phone does not seem to have massive power in the camera department sensor-wise, the company has added some cool features like AI portrait mode, time burst, film filters, and more to make it more interesting. Apart from this, the phone also features a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging support. In terms of connectivity, you get a 3.5mm audio jack, single speaker, Bluetooth, GPS, Type-C port, and more.

2 POCO C61

That said, there are still many things that we need to explore about the latest Poco C61 to see whether it can fiercely compete with the likes of Lava O2, Infinix Smart 8 Plus, and more. So, stay tuned as we west out Poco's new budget phone in shiny armour.

Microsoft, OpenAI Plan $100 Billion Data Centre With 'Stargate' AI Supercomputer: Report

Microsoft and OpenAI are working on plans for a data center project that could cost as much as $100 billion and include an artificial intelligence supercomputer called "Stargate" set to launch in 2028, The Information reported on Friday.

OpenAI did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

Rapid adoption of generative artificial intelligence technology has led to sky-rocketing demand for AI data centers capable of handling more advanced tasks than traditional data centers.

The Information reported that Microsoft would likely finance the project, which is expected to be 100 times more costly than some of the biggest existing data centers, citing people involved in private conversations about the proposal.

The proposed U.S.-based supercomputer would be the biggest in a series the companies are looking to build over the next six years, the report added.

The Information attributed the tentative cost of $100 billion to a person who spoke to Altman about it and a person who has viewed some of Microsoft's initial cost estimates. It did not identify those sources.

Altman and Microsoft have spread the supercomputers across five phases, with Stargate as the fifth phase. Microsoft is working on a smaller, fourth-phase supercomputer for OpenAI to be launched around 2026, according to the report.

Microsoft and OpenAI are in the middle of the third phase of the five-phase plan, with a significant portion of the cost for the next two phases involving acquiring the needed AI chips, the report said.

AI chips are often sold at high prices. Chip company Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told CNBC earlier in March that the latest "Blackwell" B200 artificial intelligence chip will be priced between $30,000 and $40,000.

Microsoft had also announced a duo of custom-designed computing chips in November last year.

The report said the new project would be designed to work with chips from different suppliers.

"We are always planning for the next generation of infrastructure innovations needed to continue pushing the frontier of AI capability," a Microsoft spokesperson said in an emailed statement to Reuters. The spokesperson did not comment directly on the report about the planned launch of the Stargate supercomputer.

Expenses for the plan could exceed $115 billion, more than triple Microsoft's expenditure last year on capital spending for servers, buildings and other equipment, the report stated.

Sam Bankman-Fried Sentenced to 25 Years for Multi-Billion Dollar FTX Fraud

Sam Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison by a judge on Thursday for stealing $8 billion (roughly Rs. 66,678 crore) from customers of the now-bankrupt FTX cryptocurrency exchange he founded, the last step in the former billionaire wunderkind's dramatic downfall.

US District Judge Lewis Kaplan handed down the sentence at a Manhattan court hearing after rejecting Bankman-Fried's claim that FTX customers did not actually lose money and finding that he lied during his trial testimony. A jury found Bankman-Fried, 32, guilty on November 2 on seven fraud and conspiracy counts stemming from FTX's 2022 collapse in what prosecutors have called one of the biggest financial frauds in US history.

Kaplan said Bankman-Fried has shown no remorse.

"He knew it was wrong," Kaplan said. "He knew it was criminal. He regrets that he made a very bad bet about the likelihood of getting caught. But he is not going to admit a thing, as is his right."

Bankman-Fried, wearing a beige short-sleeve jail T-shirt, acknowledged during 20 minutes of remarks to the judge that FTX customers had suffered and he offered an apology to his former FTX colleagues - but did not admit criminal wrongdoing.

He has vowed to appeal his conviction and sentence.

Bankman-Fried stood with his hands clasped before him as Kaplan read the sentence. He then spoke with his defense lawyer Marc Mukasey briefly before being led out of the courtroom by members of the US Marshals Service.

The sentence marked the culmination of Bankman-Fried's plunge from an ultra-wealthy entrepreneur and major political donor to the biggest trophy to date in a crackdown by US authorities on malfeasance in cryptocurrency markets.

"There are serious consequences for defrauding customers and investors," US Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement. "Anyone who believes they can hide their financial crimes behind wealth and power, or behind a shiny new thing they claim no one else is smart enough to understand, should think twice."

Kaplan found that FTX customers lost $8 billion, FTX's equity investors lost $1.7 billion (roughly Rs. 14,169 crore), and that lenders to the Alameda Research hedge fund Bankman-Fried founded lost $1.3 billion (roughly Rs. 10,835 crore). He imposed an $11 billion (roughly Rs. 91,682 crore) forfeiture order and authorized the government to repay victims with seized assets.

Federal prosecutors had sought a sentence of 40 to 50 years. Mukasey had argued for a sentence of less than 5-1/4 years.

'I'm sorry for that'

Addressing the judge, Bankman-Fried said, "Customers have been suffering ... I didn't at all mean to minimize that. I also think that's something that was missing from what I've said over the course of this process, and I'm sorry for that."

Referring to his FTX colleagues, Bankman-Fried added, "They put a lot of themselves into it, and I threw that all away. It haunts me every day."

Three former close associates testified as prosecution witnesses that Bankman-Fried had directed them to use FTX customer funds to plug losses at Alameda Research. All three have pleaded guilty to fraud.

Kaplan said Bankman-Fried lied when testified that he did not know Alameda Research had spent customer deposits taken from FTX.

Mukasey sought to distance Bankman-Fried from notorious fraudsters like Bernie Madoff, saying he was "not a ruthless financial serial killer" but rather an "awkward math nerd" who tried to get customers their money back after FTX's collapse.

"Sam Bankman-Fried doesn't make decisions with malice in his heart," Mukasey added. "He makes decisions with math in his head."

Bankman-Fried's eyes turned red as he appeared to hold back tears while Mukasey spoke.

His parents, Stanford University law professors Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried, attended the sentencing. Bankman held a green umbrella as they exited the courthouse into a rainy New York afternoon, their arms around each other.

"We are heartbroken and will continue to fight for our son," they said in a statement.

'Power and influence'

A Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate, Bankman-Fried rode a boom in the values of bitcoin and other digital assets to a net worth of $26 billion (roughly Rs. 2,16,705 crore), according to Forbes magazine, before he turned 30.

Bankman-Fried became known for his mop of unkempt curly hair and commitment to a movement called effective altruism, which encourages talented young people to focus on earning money and giving it away to worthy causes.

He was one of the biggest contributors to Democratic candidates and causes before the 2022 US midterm elections. Kaplan pointed to trial evidence showing Bankman-Fried also donated to Republicans through "straw" donors to hide his involvement.

The judge called Bankman-Fried's efforts to present himself as a "good guy" an act, adding, "The goal was power and influence."

Bankman-Fried has been detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since August 2023, when Kaplan revoked his bail after finding he likely tampered with witnesses at least twice. Kaplan said he would recommend Bankman-Fried be sent to a prison close to San Francisco.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Design Renders, Colour Options, Key Specifications Surface Online

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will likely be available in the markets soon. It is expected to launch alongside other Motorola Edge 50 series models. Motorola Edge 50 Pro is already confirmed to launch in India on April 3. The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion also recently surfaced online. Now, a report claims that all three purported models are likely to be unveiled together globally. The report shared design renders of the rumoured Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, its colour options, and some key features.

According to an Android Headlines report, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is said to launch in three colours - Beige, Black, and Peach Fuzz. The report also shared the design renders of the model in these colourways. It added that in select markets the phone will launch with the moniker Moto X50 Ultra. Notably, the Moto X50 Ultra has officially been teased in China and is expected to launch soon.

The leaked design renders of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra show the date 'April 3' on the lock screen. An earlier leak regarding the Edge 50 Pro model also showed the same date, suggesting that is the likely launch date. Soon after, the company scheduled the India launch of the Motorola Edge 50 Pro for April 3. The report suggests that the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is likely to launch alongside the Pro model, and the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion may also tag along.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra appears similar to the Motorola Edge 50 Pro in the leaked renders. The black and peach variants of the model are seen with a faux leather back panel, with the raised rectangular rear camera module carrying a glossy finish. The beige option, on the other hand, appears with a textured rear panel, with the rear camera bump seamlessly rising, instead of a separate island.

At the back, the rear camera island of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra placed in the top left corner of the back panel is seen to house three camera sensors and a pill shaped LED flash. The report suggests that the camera setup will include 50-megapixel sensors including a 75mm periscope lens that is said to offer 5x optical zoom. It is also expected to come with support for laser autofocus.

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is also tipped to feature a curved OLED display with a centred hole-punch slot at the top to house the front camera sensor. The power button and the two separate volume buttons are seen on the right edge, while the bottom edge appears to have the SIM tray, a USB Type-C port, a mic, and the speakers.

Out-of-the-box the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is expected to boot Android 14-based Hello UI. This is Motorola's new user interface and is likely to come with three years of OS upgrades. The report adds that the model could be priced at around $999 (roughly Rs. 83,300).

The Motorola Edge 40 recently made its debut in the country as the successor to the Edge 30 that was launched last year. Should you buy this phone instead of the Nothing Phone 1 or the Realme Pro+? Poco X6 Neo Review: Budget Hero

Budget smartphones are plentiful, and every brand is trying to do something different to capture the attention of the masses. The Poco X6 Neo is the new kid in the block, well not actually new, it's a rebranded Redmi Note 13, but with some changes to its design and software. The key selling points for the Neo are its slim display bezel and an overall slim form factor. The Poco X6 Neo joins the Poco X6 and the Poco X6 Pro. This results in a series of devices that stretches from the budget segment deep into to the mid-range.

We've been testing the budget Poco X6 Neo for a week to try and find out if it is a good phone for around Rs. 15,000 and here's what we found.

Poco X6 Neo Review: Price in India

The Poco X6 Neo is available in India in two variants. The base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs. 15,999, whereas the higher-end 12GB RAM + 256GB storage option can be yours for Rs. 17,999.

poco x6 neo hardware poco-x6-neo-review1

Poco X6 Neo is available in three colour options

The Poco X6 Neo is available in Astral Black, Horizon Blue, and Martian Orange. We received the 12GB RAM variant in Martian Orange for review.

In the box, the Poco X6 Neo is available with a case, a 33W fast charger, a USB Type-A to Type-C cable, SIM ejector tool, and the usual paperwork.

Poco X6 Neo Review: Design

In terms of design, the Poco X6 Neo is certainly a good looking phone. We've been testing out the Martian Orange colourway, which has a marble-like finish on its back panel that shines though when light hits the surface. It's kind of cool and is certainly eye-catching. Otherwise, the panel has a matte finish to it, which is good at resisting fingerprints and smudges.

It's got a flat frame with a slight taper that makes the phone comfortable to hold in hand. Both the frame and back panel are made from plastic, which helps keep it light at just 175 grams. There's also a rectangular camera module at the back with the dual cameras, which protrude outwards quite a bit. When laid on its back, the protruding cameras makes the phone wobble.

poco x6 neo design poco-x6-neo-review2

The Poco X6 Neo has a single loudspeaker

The Poco X6 Neo is also quite thin, at just 7.69mm. On the front, you get skinny bezels around the flat display which gives it a very premium appearance. There's no thick chin either like you see on most phones in this price bracket. The phone offers an IP54 dust and splash resistant rating and the display screen is covered in Gorilla Glass 5.

Poco X6 Neo Review: Specifications and software

Moving on to specifications, the Poco X6 Neo is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC, which is based on a 6nm fabrication process. It is paired with a Mali-G54 MC2 GPU and up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. You can't expect faster RAM and storage on a phone that's priced this aggressively.

poco x6 neo design 2 poco-x6-neo-review3

Poco X6 Neo has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner

The phone comes with a USB Type-C port, a single loudspeaker, and a microphone at the bottom. The volume and power buttons are placed on the left side, whereas the right frame houses the SIM ejector tray, which supports dual SIM or a single SIM and a microSD card. At the top you'll find an infrared blaster, a microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone has 5G support, Bluetooth 5.3, dual-band Wi-Fi, and support for the usual global positioning systems.

Poco has used a side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the X6 Neo that's placed underneath the Power button. The scanner is fast and works well. We did not face any issues during our time using the phone.

The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery and comes with a 33W fast charger. Out-of-the-box, the Poco X6 Neo runs Android 13-based MIUI 14, and you will get two years of Android and 4 years of security updates. However, since Google will soon launch Android 15 later this year, you're essentially only getting one year of Android OS update with the X6 Neo, which is kind of disappointing.

poco x6 neo software poco-x6-neo-review5

Poco X6 Neo has a lot of bloatware

In terms of software features, you get the Poco launcher on the phone with Glance lock screen (which thankfully can be disabled), along with plenty of bloatware and advertisements. While most of the bloatware can be uninstalled, there are a couple of apps that you'll have to live with. There's your usual set of MIUI 14 features onboard the phone as well.

Poco X6 Neo Review: Performance

In terms of performance, there's not much going on with the X6 Neo because it is your average run-of-the-mill performer. The MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC is decent for everyday use and for some gaming. We ran some benchmarks on the phone and here are the results. With AnTuTu, the phone scored 4,59,491 points. On Geekbench 6's CPU benchmarks, the phone scored 613 points in single core tests and 1,798 points in multi-core tests. In the GPU test, the phone managed a score of 1,407 points. As you can tell, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

poco x6 neo specifications poco-x6-neo-review6

The phone is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC

One of the key selling points of the Poco X6 Neo is its display. You get a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, full-HD+ resolution, and up to 2,160Hz touch sampling rate. The panel also features super thin bezels all around. The side bezels are razor-thin at just 1.5mm. Meanwhile, the top bezel is 2mm and the bottom bezel is 2.5mm. At first glance, the bezels appear to be uniform and give the device a premium look. It's quite a rare sight to see displays with such thin bezels at this price point, especially of the AMOLED variety. Most phones in this price bracket get an LCD panel, which means less deeper blacks and no support for Always-on Display (AOD).

The screen gets bright enough thanks to 1,000 nits of peak brightness, but it has a typical brightness of just 500 nits. The screen is visible outdoors, but only barely. The phone offers three colour modes – Vivid, Saturated, and Standard. We'd recommend going with the Standard colour mode if you want the most accurate colours, or Vivid if you want the phone to adjust colours based on what's on the display. You can also adjust the colour temperature on the phone. Viewing angles are pretty good with no change in colours and contrast.

poco x6 neo display poco-x6-neo-review7

The Poco X6 Neo has a 500 nits display

The phone comes with a single loudspeaker that can get loud, but it lacks any sort of bass. Microphone and ear speaker quality is also decent and I didn't face any issues when making phone calls. The Poco X6 Neo is good for content consumption, but it would've been nice if the company had included stereo speakers.

I played Call of Duty: Warzone on the Poco X6 Neo and it automatically set the graphics quality to ‘Low', but this wasn't surprising. You can play BGMI and other graphic intensive games on the phone, but don't expect high or ultra graphics. BGMI selected HD graphics by default but had most of the effects greyed out. During long gaming sessions (30 to 45 mins) the phone did not heat-up much, and performance didn't drop. Touch sensitivity was also good, but there were a few misses here and there. I didn't notice any heating issues when using the camera or during regular usage. The phone stayed cool in most scenarios.

poco x6 neo gaming poco-x6-neo-review8

Gaming on the Poco X6 Neo is fun thanks to the large display

Coming to software performance, I did not notice major lagging or stuttering when navigating the UI, opening apps, or using the camera. Yes, the phone did lag occasionally when switching camera modes and I did notice some stutter in animations. Overall though, the 120Hz refresh rate helps overcome these rare stutters and it's not going to be a dealbreaker.

The Poco X6 Neo's 5,000mAh battery would easily last me a day and half with regular usage that included some gaming, watching videos, listening to music using wired headphones, taking photos, browsing the web, and making some calls. With heavy usage that included an hour of gaming, photo/video capture, and a couple of hours of streaming content, the phone would last me a day. The phone supports 33W fast charging and comes with a charger in the box. In our tests, the phone took about 1 hour 15 mins to charge from 1 to 100 percent, whereas 50 percent charge was achieved in about 35 mins.

Poco X6 Neo Review: Cameras

Alright, let's talk about the cameras. The Poco X6 Neo comes with a dual rear camera setup that includes a 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HM6 sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, the phone has a 16-megapixel sensor for selfies and videos. The Camera app is easy to use and has most of the camera modes laid out right in front. There's a dedicated 108-megapixel mode, a Night mode, Portrait, Documents, and a More option that gives you access to Time-lapse, Slow motion, Pro mode, Panorama, and AI watermark.

poco x6 neo cameras poco-x6-neo-review9

Poco X6 Neo has a 108-megapixel main rear camera

Daylight shots from the main camera show good detail with accurate colours in most shooting scenarios. However, it wasn't able to handle difficult lighting conditions well, despite having the HDR option enabled. The 108-megapixel captures pack more detail, are surprisingly sharp and colour accurate. In low-light, the camera doesn't perform very well even in Night mode. There's a big drop in detail, sharpness, and colour accuracy. You will also see washed out colours and details.

Poco X6 Neo primary camera sample (Tap image to expand)

Poco X6 Neo primary camera sample captured at 3X digital zoom (Tap image to expand)

The Poco X6 Neo offers 2x and 3x digital zoom from the primary camera, but the zoomed shots are digital crops and so, don't pack much detail. There's plenty of watercolour effect seen in zoom shots especially at night. Daylight shots are better and do have some level of detail.

Poco X6 Neo primary camera sample (Tap image to expand)

Poco X6 Neo primary camera sample captured at 3X digital zoom (Tap image to expand)

You also get a 2-megapixel depth sensor which is used when capturing Portrait photos. The camera takes decent portrait photos in daylight, but things get bad once the sun goes down. There are no options to choose in Portrait photos, but you can adjust the depth of field. Edge detection in daylight average. In low light photos, you will notice flaws with edge detection.

When it comes to selfies, the Poco X6 Neo again manages decent photos. Daylight selfies are good and have a good level of details with accurate white balance and colours. Low Light selfies are washed out and lack details.

The Poco X6 Neo only offers 1080p 30fps video recording from both the rear and front cameras. While you can use the camera to record videos, expect it to have plenty of noise and artefacts. The dynamic range is also not great in daylight videos and things get worse in lowlight conditions. Stabilisation in video is decent at best, start running and you'll see all the jitters. In Slow motion mode you can record at 720p 120fps, but the results are mediocre.

Overall, the camera setup on the Poco X6 Neo is good for basic daylight photography.

Poco X6 Neo Review: Verdict

The Poco X6 Neo 5G has a starting price of Rs. 15,999 and sees competition from phones such as the Realme 12 5G, Redmi Note 13 5G, and the Vivo T3 5G. However, only the Realme 12 5G is in the same price bracket, whereas the others cost a little bit more. Of course, when you pay more, you will also get a better phone, especially when it comes to camera performance.

Poco's X6 Neo's hardware isn't really new, but it does offer good value for money. The AMOLED display is definitely something that you won't find in this price segment and is great for content consumption. The phone can also take good photos in daylight conditions. You get good battery life, and decent performance as well. At this price point, the Poco X6 Neo is definitely a hero.

Bitcoin, Ether Trade Sideways, Most Altcoins Register Price Dips Amid Industry Turmoil

Majority cryptocurrencies registered losses on Thursday, March 28 in the aftermath of industry players like Binance, Coinbase, and KuCoin facing legal issues in different parts of the world. Bitcoin on Thursday managed to see a miniscule gain of 0.06 percent. With this, the value of Bitcoin has come to the point of $67,145 (roughly Rs. 55.9 lakh). In the last 24 hours, the value of Bitcoin dropped by $143 (roughly Rs. 11,920). Markets experts expect the asset to cross the mark of $70,000 (roughly Rs. 58.3 lakh) in the coming days.

“Technically, BTC is consolidating within a range after an upward movement, finding support at the 20EMA 4 H level, which is robust. The key level remains at $69,000 (roughly Rs. 57.5 lakh), with BTC needing to maintain position above it. Resistance is at the all-time high, which BTC must clear for new highs,” the CoinDCX team told Gadgets360.

Ether recorded a loss of 2.13 percent on Thursday. The asset is currently trading at the price point of $3,360 (roughly Rs. 2.80 lakh).

“ETH continues to underperform BTC, currently hovering slightly above $3,500 (roughly Rs. 2.90 lakh) and below the 20EMA. To see a significant upside move, ETH must first surpass $3,650 (roughly Rs. 3.04 lakh) while $3,450 (roughly Rs. 2.87 lakh) serves as a support level,” the CoinDCX team added.

Tether, Binance Coin, Solana, USD Coin, Cardano, and Avalanche -- found themselves following Ether towards the loss-making side of the crypto chart.

Other cryptocurrencies that failed to register any gains on Thursday include Litecoin, Leo, Polkadot, Polygon, and Uniswap.

The overall crypto market cap, as of Thursday, stands at $2.62 trillion (roughly Rs. 2,18,43,778 crore) after the valuation dipped by 1.33 percent in the last 24 hours, showed CoinMarketCap.

Profit-making cryptocurrencies, meanwhile, include Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Leo, Cosmos, and Braintrust.

The market volatility could persist for a while as some of the biggest exchanges in the sector are undergoing legal issues. Binance, for instance, is facing inquiry in Nigeria after a company executive managed to escape custody and fled the nation.

KuCoin has been charged by the US' CFTC for operating an illegal digital asset derivatives exchange. Meanwhile, a court in the US has reportedly ruled that the SEC has made a plausible argument that Coinbase is operating as an unregistered broker, exchange, and clearinghouse.

Clarity in the resolution of these industrial hurdles could help the crypto sector snap out of its volatility phase.

Google Pixel 9 Design Leaked in New Renders; Could Debut Alongside Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL

Google usually unveils two flagship phones in October every year. This year, the tech giant might opt for a new smartphone launch strategy by introducing three models — Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9. A prominent tipster now claims that the CAD-based renders that surfaced online earlier this year were of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The tipster has now leaked the Pixel 9 design in new renders. The images suggest a dual rear camera setup on the Pixel 9 and a smaller screen.

CAD-based renders of the Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro first emerged in January this year. Now, tipster Steve H.McFly (@OnLeaks), in association with 91Mobiles, claims that the renders published earlier were of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The publication has now shared alleged CAD images of the vanilla Pixel 9.

The newly leaked renders suggest a compact design for the Pixel 9 with a thick rear camera module. It seems to have rounded corners with a flat display and flat frames. It will reportedly get a 6.03-inch display. Meanwhile, the Pixel 9 Pro is said to get a 6.1-inch display and the Pixel 9 XL's could offer a 6.5-inch screen. The screen appears to have a centrally located hole punch cutout for a selfie shooter. The phone is seen with a dual rear camera unit. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are expected to offer a triple rear camera setup.

Further, the new report states that the Pixel 9 will measure around 152.8x71.9x8.5mm, and 12mm with the rear camera bump.

Google's Pixel 8 series with the vanilla Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro was launched in October last year at the ‘Made by Google' event. Therefore, the company is expected to announce the Pixel 9 phones around the same time this year. The upcoming handsets could run on Android 15 and use the company's in-house Tensor G4 SoC.

Adobe, Microsoft Join Hands to Bring a Suite of Generative AI Features for Marketers in Microsoft 365

Adobe and Microsoft joined hands to announce a suite of new artificial intelligence (AI) features for marketers at the Adobe Summit on Tuesday. In this collaboration, Adobe will offer its Adobe Experience Cloud workflows and insights to Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 applications. The new capabilities are aimed at reducing data silos and the inconvenience of using multiple different applications to complete complex tasks and build strategies. The collaboration was announced shortly after Adobe unveiled the addition of new AI capabilities and an AI assistant in its Experience Cloud suite of products.

In a press release, the companies noted the complexities in the marketing discipline that have given rise to specialised tools and applications for specific tasks. Highlighting the problem of data silos and back-and-forth navigation between apps that can lead to productivity loss and slowing of impact speed, Adobe and Microsoft announced the collaboration to tackle these challenges with the help of a unified interface and AI.

“Microsoft and Adobe share a common goal of empowering marketers to focus on the work that's most important – creating impactful campaigns and enhancing customer experiences,” said Jared Spataro, corporate vice president, AI at Work, Microsoft. “By integrating contextual marketing insights from Adobe Experience Cloud applications and Dynamics 365 within the flow of work through Copilot for Microsoft 365, we deliver on our shared goal while helping marketers streamline their efforts, break down barriers, and deliver exceptional results.”

Through the partnership, Adobe will lend relevant marketing insights and workflows from Adobe Experience Cloud applications to Microsoft, which will integrate it into its Copilot for Microsoft 365. As a result, users who use both Adobe products and Microsoft apps such as Outlook, Word, or PowerPoint, can now easily share the data across platforms to create and build marketing campaigns and strategies.

As per the announcement, one of the capabilities Copilot will gain after this tie-up includes getting data from Adobe tools such as Customer Journey Analytics and Adobe Workfront to Microsoft apps such as Outlook, Teams, and Word. Users can ask Copilot questions regarding the status of the marketing project, outstanding approvals, actionable insights, and more.

Users will also be able to draw insights from both platforms to create briefs, presentations, reports, and even imagery using Adobe Firefly generative AI. Adobe Workfront will also compile notifications from multiple applications, emails, and chats to inform the user about the project status. This collaboration has not been released yet and as per the press release, users can sign up on the platform to receive updates.

WWDC 2024 to Take Place From June 10 to June 14: All You Need to Know

WWDC 2024 is set to take place in June, Apple announced on Wednesday. The annual developers conference typically takes place at Apple's headquarters and an online telecast of the event gives developers across the world a chance to look at new software features and enhancements that the company is working on for the coming year. This year, the iPhone maker is expected to unveil new artificial intelligence (AI) features and experiences that are likely to make their way to Apple's upcoming software updates.

Apple announced that WWDC 2024 will begin on June 10 and will be an online event with access to video sessions. The keynote event will also have an in-person experience on the first day — Apple says space for the event is limited, and enthusiasts and developers can apply to attend via the Apple Developer app and the company's website. Winners of Apple's Swift Student challenge will also be eligible to apply for the in-person experience, according to the company.

While Apple does not typically reveal too many details ahead of its events, previous reports have given us an idea of what to expect from WWDC 2024. The company is expected to catch up to Samsung and Google this year, adding new generative AI-powered features to its smartphones and computers. Apple is reportedly considering partnerships with AI firms like Google and Baidu in order to provide support for cloud-based GenAI features.

This year, Apple is expected to announce details of its next major operating system updates — iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, and tvOS 18. At least some of these updates are expected to bring AI features and experiences, some of these cloud-based, and others on-device. iOS 18 will reportedly feature a updated interface and allow users to place icons wherever they want on the screen. We're unlikely to see new Apple Silicon chips being unveiled at WWDC, as the company announced the M3 chips much later last year, at its 'Scary fast' event in October 2023.

While Apple usually launches new hardware at separate events held throughout the year — recent reports suggest the imminent launch of new iPad Air and OLED-sporting iPad Pro models — the company could also announce some new devices at its annual developer conference. Last year, the firm unveiled the Apple Vision Pro, its first wearable mixed reality headset, at WWDC 2023, and new devices, or accessories — like the rumoured AirPods models, could be announced at the event.

Apple Vision Pro to Be Available in China in 2024, CEO Tim Cook Confirms

Apple Vision Pro will hit the mainland China market this year, Apple chief executive Tim Cook said on Sunday, according to state media.

Cook revealed the headset's China launch plan in response to a media question on the sidelines of the China Development Forum in Beijing, CCTV Finance said on its Weibo social account.

Apple will continue to ramp up research and development investment in China, he was quoted as saying.

Recently, a report suggested that Apple Vision Pro could soon be launched in multiple countries. The Cupertino-based tech giant unveiled its first mixed reality (supporting both augmented reality and virtual reality) headset at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2023. It later went on sale in the US in 2024. While there have been reports suggesting the headset's expansion to other regions, the company has not shared any such plans yet. But now, a report has found clues about which countries could be the first to get the Vision Pro hidden within the device's operating system's codes.

The strings of codes in VisionOS, where the hints for the expansion of the Apple Vision Pro were first spotted by MacRumors. The virtual keyboard for the device currently only supports the English (US) language. However, the report mentions that the codes suggest that support for 12 more languages will be added.

These 12 languages include Cantonese - Traditional, Chinese - Simplified, English (Australia), English (Canada), English (Japan), English (Singapore), English (UK), French (Canada), French (France), German (Germany), Japanese, and Korean. Since the inclusion of the language also mentions the region, the report claims that China, Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, the UK, France, and Germany may become the first to see the headset being sold in their countries. Notably, India is not mentioned in the list.

iPhone 16 Pro Models Tipped to Offer On-Device AI Performance With A18 Pro Chipset

iPhone 15 series was launched only about seven months ago, but, the iPhone 16 series is already among the most anticipated phones of 2024. The lineup is said to include four models — iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Early reports suggest that the Cupertino-based tech giant is preparing an A18 Pro processor for the upcoming iPhone lineup with a key focus on artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Apple used an older A16 chip on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models and an all-new A17 Pro chip on the Pro models.

As reported by 9to5Mac, Jeff Pu of Haitong International Tech Research revealed details about the A18 Pro processor in his research note. According to the analyst, Apple is planning changes to the A18 Pro chip for on-device artificial intelligence. The company is ramping up chip production earlier than usual.

"According to our supply chain checks, we are seeing growing demand for Apple's A18, while its A17 Pro volume has stabilised since February. We note Apple's A18 Pro, the 6-GPU version, will feature a larger die area (compared to A17 Pro), which could be a trend for edge AI computing", Pu wrote in his note. The larger die area indicates that the chip will be able to accommodate more transistors and specialised components. This would make ground for more on-device AI capabilities in the iPhone 16 Pro lineup.

Increasing the die area in a chip is said to increase the risks of defects and design flaws. It could also affect energy efficiency and heat dissipation.

Apple is reportedly anticipated to take a split approach to its AI features this year. It could rely on cloud infrastructure in partnership with Google for some AI features while running other features completely on the device.

The iPhone 16 lineup is expected to debut in the second half of this year with major changes and upgrades. The standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to feature the A18 SoC while the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max could get an A18 Pro chip. The A18 Pro recently surfaced on Geekbench 6 with 3,500 points on the single-core test and 8,200 on the multi-core test.

Samsung Finally Adopts Android’s Seamless Updates Starting With Galaxy A55 5G: Here’s How It Works

Nearly eight years after the feature was announced, Samsung has finally adopted Seamless Updates, a feature announced by Google with Android Nougat in 2016. The feature makes the update process seem a lot quicker and without requiring a user to blankly stare at an update screen for several minutes while the phone gets updated. Sadly, this isn't a feature that has been made available for all Samsung devices but from what we have learnt, is just limited to the newly launched Galaxy A55 5G smartphone.

Apart from adopting a slightly different design compared to other Samsung smartphones and using Exynos processors, Samsung's Galaxy A55 5G is also the first Samsung smartphone to offer Seamless Updates. First reported by The Mobile Indian, the report claims that feature was visible after the installation of the March 2024 security patch on their Galaxy A55 5G unit. The software updates thereon showed two stages of installation with the first stage being “Downloading and Installing” while the second was a “Verification stage”. Post this, all the phone needed was a restart to complete the update process. Gadgets 360 was able to confirm this independently.

What are Seamless Updates?

Nearly eight years have passed since Google introduced and adopted the feature. The Seamless Updates or A/B system updates have more benefits than downsides compared to regular updates or A system updates, but overall are more about convenience.

Seamless Updates, basically lets a user use his/her device while the software update gets installed in the background. This reduces the usual downtime that users face while a phone without the feature gets updated, and that means calls, messaging and other apps are unavailable during the standard update process since the phone will usually display an update screen with a progress bar. While this isn't a problem with tiny security patches, bigger software updates do take a while. Seamless Updates also known as A/B system updates are not necessarily about speed but more about convenience. The update process is usually slower (as it happens in the background) and all it needs is a restart whenever the user has the time to take a break.

How does Seamless Updates work?

This is all possible thanks to A/B partitions which would mean that Seamless Updates need more space. However it is also possible for OTA updates to be streamed (since Android 8.0) onto the B partition reducing the need to have a copy of the update prior to installation but just space for metadata (just 100 kiB or 0.1 megabyte).

During the update process, the new software update gets downloaded and installed on partition B, while partition A is busy running the currently available software for the user. Once the installation process is checked and complete on partition B, the system simply has to reboot and then switches to partition B, making partition A inactive and open for another update.

The beauty of the A/B process is that if at any point the freshy downloaded update fails, the system can reboot back to partition A (the older/current update) and life goes on as usual with the phone rebooting to the older software and the user not ending up with a broken phone. In the event of a failed installation on a regular A-only system update, the user also risks losing all personal data (if not backed up elsewhere).

Samsung is indeed one of the last big smartphone manufacturers to switch to Seamless Updates. Currently a number of brands like Google's Pixel, Motorola, Nokia (now HMD), OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Sony, and Xiaomi support it.

OpenAI Said to Court Hollywood in Meetings With Film Studios, Directors

OpenAI wants to break into the movie business.

The artificial intelligence startup has scheduled meetings in Los Angeles next week with Hollywood studios, media executives and talent agencies to form partnerships in the entertainment industry and encourage filmmakers to integrate its new AI video generator into their work, according to people familiar with the matter.

The upcoming meetings are just the latest round of outreach from OpenAI in recent weeks, said the people, who asked not to be named as the information is private. In late February, OpenAI scheduled introductory conversations in Hollywood led by Chief Operating Officer Brad Lightcap. Along with a couple of his colleagues, Lightcap demonstrated the capabilities of Sora, an unreleased new service that can generate realistic-looking videos up to about a minute in length based on text prompts from users. Days later, OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman attended parties in Los Angeles during the weekend of the Academy Awards.

The ChatGPT maker unveiled Sora in mid-February with a series of high-definition clips that instantly captured the attention of Hollywood and Silicon Valley. Sora isn't available to the public yet, but OpenAI has already granted access to a few big-name actors and directors.

“OpenAI has a deliberate strategy of working in collaboration with industry through a process of iterative deployment – rolling out AI advances in phases – in order to ensure safe implementation and to give people an idea of what's on the horizon,” a spokesperson for OpenAI said in a statement. “We look forward to an ongoing dialogue with artists and creatives.”

AI is a divisive subject in Hollywood. Many filmmakers and studios already rely on AI in pre-production and post-production, and recognize the promise of a new crop of artificial intelligence tools. But the rise of generative AI services — which can quickly spit out text, images, audio and, increasingly, short videos in response to queries from users — has also raised concerns about upending the livelihoods of everyone from illustrators to voice actors.

Screenwriters and actors went on strike last year in part to fight for protections with the use of the technology. Both unions later secured some safeguards for how AI is used in the entertainment industry. Media companies are also wary of allowing OpenAI to train its models on their work without compensating them. Outlets including CNN, Fox Corp. and Time Magazine have had discussions about licensing their work to OpenAI, Bloomberg has reported.

OpenAI is courting Hollywood as it tries to catch up with the competition. Technology giants Meta Platforms Inc. and Alphabet Inc.'s Google have previously unveiled text-to-video research projects. A growing number of well-funded AI startups, including Runway AI Inc., Pika and Stability AI, are working on this technology as well.

Runway, a leader in the market, previously told Bloomberg that its Gen-2 text-to-video service is already being used by millions of people, including professionals at production and animation studios who rely on it for previsualization and storyboarding. Film editors are also creating videos with Runway and combining them with other footage to make B-roll or visual effects, the company said.

OpenAI's Sora is still in the research preview stage, the company said, and no pricing has been set.

iQoo Tipped to Be Working on Smartphone With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chip, Could Debut as iQoo Neo 10 Pro

iQoo could be working on a new smartphone to succeed the company's iQoo Neo 9 Pro model that was launched earlier this year. According to details leaked by a Chinese tipster, the smartphone maker could be equipped with a powerful processor — the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip from Qualcomm that also powers the Vivo sub-brand's flagship iQoo 12. While the company is yet to announce plans for a new Neo-series handset, other specifications of the purported smartphone, including its display, camera, and fast charging have also been leaked.

Tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) leaked details of an unnamed smartphone equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip that will sport a 1.5K LPTO AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. The rear panel of the handset is said to be made of glass or leather and it won't feature a plastic frame.

The leaker also claims that the handset will be equipped with a 50-megapixel primary camera and an unspecified secondary camera. It is also claimed to pack a "large" battery with support for 120W fast charging and feature a short-focus fingerprint scanner and an X-axis vibration motor.

While the tipster didn't mention the name of the purported handset in the original post on Weibo, it was claimed in a response to users that the phone would either be from Realme or from iQoo. The specifications of the handset suggest that it could arrive as the successor to the iQoo Neo 9 Pro, which was unveiled in February.

The company's recently launched Neo 9 Pro handset is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, paired with up to 12GB of RAM. It sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is equipped with a 50-megapixel primary camera with a Sony IMX920 sensor, along with an 8-megapixel secondary camera.

It packs a 5,160mAh battery with support for 120W SuperVOOC wired charging. The iQoo Neo 9 Pro has an optical fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication and comes with an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance, according to the company.

Apple Said to Cut Jobs After Scrapping In-House Effort to Make Apple Watch Displays

Apple Inc. is winding down a long-running project to design and develop its own smartwatch displays, putting an end to another pricey research and development initiative.

In recent weeks, the company has ceased an in-house effort to create screens with microLED technology, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The displays, which featured brighter and more vibrant visuals, would have been added to a future version of the Apple Watch — before potentially going into other products.

But the cost and complexity of the effort ultimately proved too great. So Apple is now reorganizing the teams that handle display engineering and eliminating several dozen roles in the US and Asia, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the matter is private.

The move to shutter the project came around the same time as the company's decision to cancel work on a self-driving car. In both cases, Apple is giving at least some affected employees the opportunity to find other roles within the company. If they can't get new jobs — a likely scenario for some of them — the workers will be laid off and provided severance. An Apple spokesman declined to comment.

The display project was part of a broader push by Apple to design more of its technology in-house. Though the company already customizes the displays in its products, they are heavily based on designs from partners like LG Display Co. and Samsung SDI Co. By bringing more of that process inside Apple, the company hoped to gain an edge over competitors.

It also saw promise in microLED, which is made from millions of microscopic light-emitting diodes, and wanted to take a key role in developing it. The technology uses less power, reproduces colors more accurately and allows for thinner devices.

The effort kicked off about seven years ago within Apple's hardware engineering organization. It was later shifted to Wei Chen, who runs Apple's display group. The project — codenamed T159 — was relocated to Apple's hardware technologies division a few years ago.

Apple even built its own screen manufacturing facility in Santa Clara, California, near its Cupertino headquarters, where hundreds of employees could test the production of microLED screens. Many of the job cuts involve people at that site — along with Apple display engineering centers in Asia near the company's supply-chain hubs.

A visit to the Santa Clara facility this week showed that the building was still operational, with cars in the parking lot and a small number of employees entering and exiting the building.

When Apple hatched the microLED plan years ago, it saw the technology as a successor to the current standard: organic LED screens, or OLEDs. It expected to eventually push microLEDs into all of its products, from Apple Watches to iPhones to Macs.

In 2018, the company believed it was capable of bringing the screens to the Apple Watch as early as 2020. That timeline ended up getting delayed until 2024, and then 2025 and beyond. The situation was similar to Apple's work on the electric car, whose release was postponed several times.

For all their benefits, microLED screens were difficult to produce in sufficient quantities. Manufacturing them required cutting-edge technology and a complicated process called LED transfers — the placing of pixels in the display. Though Apple owned the design and manufacturing process for the microLED screens, it enlisted a number of partners to handle mass production and tasks like LED transfers.

News of a shift in the project first emerged in recent weeks, when suppliers announced that they were losing microLED-related contracts. That included AMS-Osram AG, which said the cancellation would force it to cut jobs, potentially sell a manufacturing plant and record a writedown that could approach $1 billion.

For now, Apple believes that OLED is the best current solution for its smartwatch. But it's still eyeing microLED for other projects down the road, the people said. The company is identifying potential new suppliers and processes that could make the technology a reality in its devices, though that won't likely happen anytime soon.
